| La Julerie is situated in a quiet rural area yet near to many of the beautiful sandy beaches in Le Côte D’Armor; working west from Dinard, these beaches include those at St Lunaire which are ideal for all types of surfing; St Briac, although the town is inland from its beaches, both the town and its beach have a “chic” feeling and are very popular; Lancieux and St Jacut both have sailing schools and beach snack bars which serve very pleasant snack lunches. St Cast, which has the best sunshine record in the area, has several wide sandy beaches and also a sailing school.
Dinan is the closest historic town to La Julerie, it offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, creperies, museum and art galleries and also many delightful scenic streets; there are river trips from its port up the Rance. Every other year from 2010 it holds a Medieval fair over a weekend in July, which is a major attraction; another Medieval fair is held in the alternate years in Moncontour, a beautiful old hill top town about an hour away to the west from La Julerie. The towns of St Malo and Dinard face each other at the entrance to the river Rance; St Malo is a busy yachting centre and ferry port with most of its busy shopping area and restaurants are situated inside its walls “Intra Muros”, whilst which has since Edwardian times been a favourite resort for the British has a marvellous bustling market every Saturday which is a delight to visit even if it is just to sit with a drink and people watch. The world famous Mont St Michael is less than an hours drive away and is a “must see” for many visitors to the Region, Rennes, the capital of Brittany and St Brieuc the centre of Le Côte D’Armor and Moncontour (medieval fete) are all less than an hour’s drive from La Julerie. Each summer different local towns will be staging dance and music festivals and also agricultural shows and galas catering for all pursuits. There are equestrian centres in both Plancoet and Quevert, both about 10 minutes drive from the Gites, and popular with our guests Whilst most of our guests come to enjoy the lovely beaches, others come to play golf, or enjoy a walking holiday; one party organised a different 10+ mile route for each of their 7 day stay, some in the country, others on the coast, and they still say they had more options of routes available! Golfers are well catered for with several courses in the area. Brittany is famous for its food, whether it is the wide range of sea food they offer or their crepes and gallettes, this food can either be bought and cooked in the Gites, or cooked and served for you in any one of the numerous restaurants in the area. The French celebrate their National Holiday on 14 July, but being French, and who love to see fireworks, different towns will each stage their own grand display on different nights for over a week around that date! | |

| La Julerie farm has been converted into 4 Gîtes. Each Gite has been individually re-created in the Breton style and we have taken great care to ensure that all the beautiful original timbers are exposed throughout each cottages, but at the same time have equipped each Gite with fitted kitchen, comfortable chairs and sofas & French/English TV, DVD players, wooden patio tables & chairs & barbeque equipment.
La Julerie has an indoor/outdoor heated pool (with a retractable glass cover) which adjoins the spacious leisure room which has table tennis, toy’s, seating & showers. La Julerie slopes gently to the south and is a natural suntrap; it is very peaceful being about 2km from main roads, but near historic towns such as Dinan & St Malo & many beautiful beaches & golf courses. As there are no other properties on the road to La Julerie and with space in our yard many guests bring their children’s cycles to use around La Julerie. We have now listed over 56 different types of birds and there are many swallows flying around the buildings throughout the summer; they still nest in some of the buildings. At nighttime you may are more likely to hear owls than cars. La Vieille Ferme is, as its name applies the old farmhouse. La Vieille Ferme has the largest ground-floor area of any of our Gites at La Julerie and is a “must” when looking for a group booking as it can easily seat 20 people together around the tables. Downstairs offers a entrance-hall, corner kitchen, dining area and salon with settee bed and comfy chairs and a washroom/toilet, the walls are finished in a traditional Breton render, the floors are tiled. Upstairs has 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedded & 1with a bunk beds. No.1 bathroom has bath & basin, No.2 bathroom has shower, basin & toilet, there is also a separate toilet. With central heating and also a wood-burner this will make ideal holiday accommodation all year. La Vieille Ferme has a patios both in front and to the rear of the cottage, its lawned garden area is alongside the cottage; the rest of the 1/2 hectare of garden area is for use for the guests from all of the Gîtes; we have swings and a slide for the younger children and there is badminton equipment We do cater for weekend breaks and holidays of less than 7 days apart from during the holiday seasonsThis cottage is not equipped to cater for disabled people. Pets can be accepted subject to prior agreement. We do not permit smoking in any building, only outdoors. Payment can be made in either £ sterling or Euros. We do not accept Credit Cards. As members of Brittany Ferries “Property Owners Club” the owners are able to assist all of their guests in getting up to 15% discount on the full cost of their tickets when travelling with this ferry company; they are also able to get a 10% discount on the cost of their meals when dining in the restaurant on their ferries For more information & |
