| Tuscany is one of the most beautiful regions of Italy.The history ,the architecture, the scenery, the food and the people have made generations of tourists fall in love with it.
Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena and Pistoia are all worth at least one visit, however if you move away from the 'well beaten path' you are bound to discover something new,something special and something exciting. During the summer months, many events are held such as village fairs with markets, good quality street food,concerts etc. Vinci itself is a working village unspoilt by tourism and boasts shops, bars, restaurants and 2 museums dedicated to life and work of its most famous son and celebrated from April to June and is always closed with a large firework display. In the Autumn the main events are the grape harvest, the olive harvest and the trufle season held in nearby San Miniato. The Moltalbano hill used to be the hunting reserve of the Medici family.Part of the wall that used to enclose the game is still visible today.If you like walking there are trails you can follow which will allow you to discover little villages and hamlets as well as the woodlands and fields all around the Moltalbano. Closeby is the Padule di Fucecchio Nature Reserve which is a stretch of marshland which is home to a large selection of birds and other wildlife and is a great place for birdwatchers and natur lovers. If you wish to really explore Tuscany then the best months are April/May and September/October.However if you wish to relax and enjoy the sunshine poolside then June, July and August are the months for you. Please be aware that most Italians, and therefore their businesses also, close for their annual holidays in August, so you may wish to take this into consideration if shopping is on your 'wish list' while holidaying here. We are conveniently placed between the airports of Firenze(Florence) and Galileo Galilei (Pisa) which are both served well by the airlines of British Airways into Florence and Ryanair, British Airways and Easyjet into Pisa.Car hire is essential to enable you to reach all the places of interest you may wish to visit and also for getting around locally. | |
