| Encima Del Mundo (On Top of the World), is a little mountain haven in the heart of Andalucia aimed at the more discerning clients. Just 15 minutes from the village shops and bar of Fuente Del Conde, and 20 minutes drive from Iznajar and its magnificent lake, its location was carefully selected by Karen and Andy for its stunning views and tranquillity to make this their home. The land extends to the highest peak of the mountain on which it sits. Where the olive groves finish the Spanish oak wooded area begins, the clearings offer shaded picnic areas to take in lunch or do some bird watching. If you climb to the top of the mountain, the 360 degree views are absolutely spectacular. Because Iznajar is central to Andalucia it is the perfect location for visiting Granada, Cordoba, Malaga and Seville. Iznajar is located in the green and lush Andalucian mountains, 50 minutes north of Malaga Airport, or east of Granada Airport. It sits high on a peninsula, and therefore, has lake views from most aspects.
Iznajar Lake offers its own beach, water sports and fishing. It stretches for 32 kilometres, with patchwork colour banks, which serve to enhance its beauty. Iznajar's narrow streets meander up to the castle at its highest point. Seek out its plaques, plotting Iznajar's long and rich history. The whole area is located on the edge of " Sierra Subbetica" National Park, a very beautiful and popular part of Andalucia. The park is favoured by bird-watchers, ramblers, and nature lovers! El Torcal Park Nature Reserve is known for unusual limestone rock formations. El Torcal Park Nature Reserve is located about 30 min's from us in the direction of Antequera. El Torcal Park's 17 square km are some of the most beautiful and impressive limestone landscapes in Europe. The whole area was under sea until one hundred million years ago. Combine your El Torcal trip with a visit to the wolf park where you will have an English spoken guide take your round the enclosures. Cordoba city is just an hour and a quarter drive and its worth the visit to the Mezquita a huge Mosque with a cathedral in the centre. The old cobbled streets are a nice stroll after lunch. Granada town is about 90 minutes east and offers great site seeing and history. The Moorish Alhambra palace is a must The Sierra Nevada mountain range of the region provides sun and snow, with great opportunities for skiing in the winter months. Seville is about two hours to the west and again is steeped in history and beauty, and is well worth a good days visit. The many picturesque mountain villages, each with its own charm, are a joy to endure at any time of year, and there are many to investigate. Check out the Andalucian ceramics and tiles and of course the local cuisine. | |

| Welcome to Mountain Retreats Andalucia if you are looking for a relaxing holiday in the beautiful Andalucian mountains, with just the sound of the birds and a possible distant tractor, your in the right place, Iznajar is just 50 minutes from Malaga & Granada airport's and is situated around a beautiful 32 kilometre lake. Located in 7 acres of olive grove and oaks, and with the most stunning views of lake and mountains, our cottages each form part of a traditional family finca and offer Andalucia at its very best. A must for those wanting peace and quiet in fabulous surroundings. There is plenty of space for walking. and spreading out. The front of the house offers a shaded and breezy area for reading or a must with a glass of wine to watch the sunset. The 12x6m pool is surrounded by grass and located to receive the best of views. We offer El Granero which has been a regular rental for the last few years, We also have another cottage La Casita a New for 2009 a second 2 bed cottage in Moorish style again a 2 bedroom accomodation sleeping 4. Both share our 12 meter pool which has the most stunning views. In El Granero both bedrooms have en suite shower rooms. 1 bedroom upstairs, double bed and one bedroom downstairs twin singles. Upstairs bathroom with WC shower and wash basin. Downstairs with WC shower bidet and wash basin. Fridge, oven, grill, hob and toaster.
The tastefully furnished lounge has a corner suite, coffee table, sideboard and wood burner. A book shelf offers a good selection to read or there are board games. There is a iron and board hairdryer, information booklets ie. places to eat, shop, visit. Towels and linen are all provided. As this is a family owned property, ( mostly just the two of us these days) please be aware that there may be household pets wandering around so we ask that you respect them too! Although we welcome children and the disabled, we feel that we should point out that due to the location of the cottages, there are many steps and steep drops. We wish to keep the area as natural as possible and therefore, there is no fencing. Children could be subject to danger should they stray from designated areas. We respect that those who's children have grown up and flown the nest don't, wish to spend their holidays with someone else's children. therefore we reserve the right to client select. if you are a group wanting both cottages, it is of course no problem, if a couple or four adults are first to book a stay with us in one cottage we will accept only a couple or four adults in the second cottage.
